Tainted Evolution - Dark Chronicles Chapter 2

It had been a tough battle of wills but finally Signas had agreed to let Chiro out
into the field with Forte. He was glad though, being indoors for three months in a
row was too much and he missed action. The few goons they had ran into fell down easy
enough, as the two of them made their way towards the source of the alert. Once there
Chiro saw someone he never thought he'd see again.

"Cyren..." The name escaped his lips in a whisper. He couldn't believe it, the one
person he hadn't seen for years was now in his sight. Feeling something coil up
in his stomach, Chiro took a step back and put hand around his middle. This gained
Fortes attention though as he glanced at Chiro, frowning slightly before asking
in silent tone "Are you alright?" Hastily nodding, Chiro moved his hand back to his
side and glanced back at Cyren. Same features as back then but grown up, more muscled
and his face... Gulping nonexistent piece down, he kept looking at his old friend.

He was mesmerized by the new discovery of the handsome face, a chill traveling down
his spine along with small gasp that had escaped his lips but then he felt eyes on
him and snapped out of it. Looking to his side, he noticed his mentor looking at him
with raised eyebrow and quickly murmured "I'm sorry... It's just that.... That red
head over there... He helped me escape..." Nodding in understandment Forte glanced
back at the two mavericks and in serious tone whispered "He's a maverick...Being with
Vile confirms that and you know that you can't just casually go chat with the enemy."

The feeling in his gut made Chiro bite his lower lip hard, taste of blood rushing
into his mouth from the small wound as he nodded slowly and shook his head slightly.
"Get a grip... You knew all along he's with the mavericks so why's this a shock now?"
The thought rushed through Chiros head as he lifted his head up and tried to focus
on the mission at hand.

Bored groan echoed in the air as Cyren glanced at Vile who was tempering with some
device and huffed "Are we going to be standing here forever? This is boring as all
hell you know." Getting a light glare at his way, Cyren smirked and chuckled, lifting
his hands up as a peaceful gesture. "You can go roam around if you're that bored but
don't get seen by hunters or humans." Vile hissed at him in irritated tone as he
put his focus back on the device in his hands. Small smirk appearing on his lips,
Cyren jumped down from the roof to a dark alley and walked off.

"Sheez that guy needs a girlfriend or something." He thought to himself and rolled
his eyes before looking around. Humans, civilian reploids, some dogs and cats,
nothing of intrest. It made Cyren hiss and shove his hands to his pockets as he let
his gaze roam the nearby area. It was a dull sight and just as he was about to
continue on his way, a quiet thud echoed into his ears and he turned his head only
to spot a person who looked very familiar but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

Turning to get a better look, Cyren finally recognized this boy in front of him
and his eyes widened slightly. "Chiro..?" He murmured in surprised tone and kept eyes
on the purple haired boy who was looking rather nervous.

Chiro took few steps towards Cyren and opened his mouth partly to say something but
then shut his lips tightly, squeezing his own hand. Cyren tilted his head to side
slightly, grinned in playful manner and poked Chiro on forehead. "Cat got your
tongue?" He questioned his old friend and chuckled. Seeing a small smile ghosting the
edge of Chiros mouth, he reached towards him and pulled him into hug. "Good to see
you again..." He breathed into Chiros ear as he felt pair of delicate arms wrapping
around himself and hearing a soft whisper "It's good to see you too Cyren..."

Small smile spreading on his lips, Cyren tightened his hold slighty and felt the
leaner figure against himself doing the same. Embrace neither of them wanted to let
go of but reluctantly they did and looked at each other in the eyes.

Red eyes like rubies, even shined like that and like never before, it struck Cyren
somewhere deep. These were the same eyes that had looked at him in fear and pain last
time. Biting his lip slightly Cyren took a breath and put his hands back into
pockets. "How you've been?" He asked and looked at Chiro who looked around hastily
before looking back. "I've been well... Better." Was the quiet reply which was
followed by a question "What about you?" Rolling his eyes Cyren turned sideways to
Chiro and huffed. "I'm as fine as one can be with a grumptard for a teacher and pushy
annoying baldy for a boss."

Noticing the clear wince in the younger boys body, he automatically pulled him into
hug and put one hand behind his head. "Sorry... Shouldn't mention him around you..."
Cyren hushed and moved his thumb, carefully caressing his friends head. Sigh echoed
in the alley and Chiro wrapped his arms around Cyrens waist, burying his face into
the wider shoulder. "It's alright..." Was whispered softly as Cy felt Chiros hand
caressing his back and odd little tingle traveled through him.

Suddenly sounds of fight brought the two back into the present and made them look
around, only to see their teachers engaged in a battle.
